The young caterpillar can be found in the young terminal leaves of Indian Plum Oemleria cerasiformis in March, when few other shrubs are in leaf. The young caterpillars, which are brown, also hide themselves in crevices in the bark. Pupation is in the ground in late April, and the moth emerges in May.
