Aseptis binotata

Until it is almost full grown, the caterpillar of Aseptis binotata looks very similar to that of the common Orthosia hibisci, although it has a much wider taste in foodplants, hibisci usually being found on Rosaceae. When full grown, however, the red line along the side identifies it as binotata. It is quite unlike that of the next species A. adnixa. I have found the caterpillar of binotata on Snowberry, Ocean Spray, Arbutus, Indian Plum, elder and honeysuckle.
