Autographa ampla

I have found caterpillars of this species in May and in September. I believe it is partially double-brooded, and that winter is spent as a larva, though I haven't reared enough of them to be absolutely certain of either of these. I have found them on alder, willow, stinging nettle, snowberry and elder.
