Lithophane innominata
I have reared the caterpillar of this moth on the leaves of Salal
(Gaultheria shallon) and Red Elder (Sambucus racemosa), though
it has also been recorded on a wide variety of herbaceous plants, as well as
both broadleaf and coniferous trees. The caterpillars of the genus Lithophane
are perhaps not to be trusted with other caterpillars and are best reared alone.
The moths emerge in the late summer and spend the winter as adult insects.
