Phlyctaenia coronata

This species occurs in Europe as well as in North America, and its caterpillar
feeds on elder, Sambucus sp., on both sides of the Atlantic. I found
the caterpillar in July on some elder leaves that I had brought in for some
other caterpillars, and it was no trouble at all to rear. After a few days,
it made a neat silken cocoon on the surface of a leaf, and the adult moth emerged
  three weeks later.
