Egira curialis

Students of crystallography having difficulty understanding the concept of "hexagonal close packing" might refer to the eggs of Egira curialis. I regularly find the caterpillars feeding on the flowers of the Welsh Poppy Meconopsis cambrica and I have also reared them on the leaves of the Domestic Plum Prunus domestica. The pupa overwinters and the moth emerges in April.
