  GEOMETRIDAE

Probole amicaria

The moth shown was reared on alder. The unusual colour scheme seems to combine cryptic coloration - resembling the colour of a bark background - with disruptive coloration, which disguises the shape of the moth so that it is difficult to recognize it as a moth.
