Butterflies and Moths of Southern Vancouver Island--Jeremy B. Tatum

  DREPANIDAE

Drepana bilineata

This is the only other member of the genus in North America, and it is scarce on southern Vancouver Island. Like D. arcuata, the caterpillar feeds on alder, and, it, too, makes sounds. Pupation is in a cocoon hidden by a folded leaf. The pupa is covered with a fine white powder, as if it had been dipped in flour.
