  DREPANIDAE

Ceranemota fasciata

I found the caterpillar on Bitter Cherry Prunus emarginata in May. At first I mistook it for a routine noctuid, until its habit of raising its hind end in the air gave it away as either a thyatirine or a notodontid. I had to wait until the following spring before it revealed itself to be this species.
