  LYCAENIDAE

Incisalia eryphon

Western Pine Elfin

Apart from deciding whether to place the elfins in Incisalia or to lump them with Callophrys, this species has escaped the attentions of taxonomists relatively unchanged, and, to my knowledge, there has been little debate over whether or not it should be lumped with the Eastern Pine Elfin Callophrys (or Incisalia) niphon. The adult has also managed to escape the attentions of my camera, so I can illustrate only the larva (which feeds on Pinus contorta) and pupa.
