Some caterpillars react to potential enemies by wriggling vigorously. This one must be one of the most violent wrigglers. Not only does this enable it to make good its escape, but I admit - in spite of my much greater size - to have found its wriggling quite alarming. It feeds on the flowers of Snowberry. It pupates in a particularly neat-looking cocoon, which I regret not having been able to photograph. The wing shape of the adult is quite interesting, and it holds its antennae forward in classical plutellid fashion.
