ALUCITIDAE

Alucita montana

I have reared Alucita montana from the flowers of Snowberry Symphoricarpos alba. The caterpillar is pink, it hides inside the flowers, and it pupates in a delicate fish-net cocoon. The unusual wing-structure makes moths of this family instantly identifiable.
